"Foggy?" Even though bringing up their late friend instantly jolted Karen up, the shock shifted into understanding. It had been their initial suspicion, old grudges and revenge being the obvious motive. But Matt was now talking about something different, something Karen had not been able to anticipate as hard as she'd worked to find any connections between Fisk and Bullseye after the funeral.
It had been her way of coping with it all, work had always been her way of coping with pain. And Matt had turned her back on her, leaving her again on her own.
She tried to push that pain into the dark back of herself. Now's not the time.
"It was his wife," Kate interrupted. "You mentioned something about Vanessa. Maybe that's why Bullseye tried to take Fisk out? He might be working for her." What if she was trying to take over their empire? She was taking two birds with one stone. Foggy first, then her husband out of the way.
As questions squeezed her brain, Matt teasing Frank managed to steal a much needed chuckle out of her. That only encouraged Lucky, who again gave another turn over the ex soldier and another shot at kissing his face.
"That shitstain left one of those bullets with your skull at my door," Kate commented bitterly, still remembering how Matt had spit that out on that bastard's face.
Nobody here is innocent.
Karen shook her head. "They're not saying anything about that, they're not wearing your simbol for the public to see. My guess is they're not gonna risk the backlash." Karen shared a brief look with Frank. "No offense."
